North Wales Magic Circle Close-Up Competition
Last Tuesday, Jay took part in the annual close up competition of the North Wales Magic Circle, at the Constitutional Club in Prestatyn. There were six competitors, who each had to perform for a maximum of twelve minutes for two sets of audiences. One of the other magicians filmed part of Jay’s performance and put it online, so we thought we’d share it with you all. All the performers were did really well, and winner of the competition will be announced at the NWMC’s annual dinner later in the year.
North Wales Magic Circle Annual Dinner
Last weekend we went to the North Wales Magic Circle annual dinner at the Springfield hotel near Holywell. It’s a great chance to catch up with magic friends. The food was good, and the cabaret very entertaining: Mark James, Steve Hewlett and Guy Barrett. The Griffin awards were presented, well done to everyone who won! At the end of the evening the current president Ged handed over the chain of office to the new presidents for 2011 – Stuart and Jayne of Safire. It’s the first time in the history of the NWMC that we’ve had joint presidents. Hopefully the upcoming year will be a great one for both them and the North Wales Magic Circle.
100th Show!
This Wednesday will be our 100th stage show. Our very first stage performance was at the North Wales Magic Circle cabaret competition back in 2009. We’d never been on stage before and were so nervous. 99 shows later, and we’ve made such improvements, that when comparing old and new photographs, it’s almost unbelievable to see the difference. Lets hope the next 100 shows are just as much fun, and that we’re able to keep altering and improving, always trying to be more magical and more entertaining.
