Seaside Follies is a variety show that takes place every Wednesday over the summer from the 21st of May to the 1st of October at Llandudno Town Hall.
The show features comedian Mel Blake, singer Rachel Silva and the Linzi Grace Dancers. 2014 sees the first performances of Gatling Magic’s brand new stage act, the Mystic Emporium.
This will be our sixth year with the show, and we can’t wait to be working with all our friends again.
Gallant knights and beautiful princesses, a jester, a magician, balloon models, jousting, bouncy castles and a hot dog stand, and some beautiful birds of prey… this was our day on the Quay in Conwy.
The main feature of the event was a competition to see who would be the official Knight and Princess of Conwy. The competitors all took part in a bravery test, where Harley the Clown juggled sharp knives over them!
As always, Bernie the bunny was with us, and he made lots of new friends in the Coastal Hawks Project. He enjoyed sitting up high on their tent, watching everyone walk past; and he really liked looking at all their swords and armour.
But most of all, Bernie loved their birds.
You might think that a rabbit would be scared to go near predators like these, but not Bernie!
First of all Bernie tried to persuade Angel, the eagle owl, to give him a ride.
Bernie also met a hungry hawk, and narrowly avoided becoming lunch.
After that, he decided to be a bit more careful!
Finally, Bernie met Merlin and Morgana, two barn owls, with magical names.
Bernie especially liked their white feathers, he thought that they looked a lot like him!
We all had a wonderful day in Conwy, and we’re counting the days until our next event there.
21st of May – provisional start date for our annual summer season in Llandudno Town Hall with Happy Faces Children’s Charity. Every Wednesday over the summer.
14th of June – James Bond themed evening at Venue Cymru
Happy new year! Here’s some information about some of the shows we’ve got lined up so far for 2014:
We’re back at the Town Hall in Llandudno for our 6th summer season with Happy Faces. The shows will take place on Wednesday evenings over the summer as usual, and we’ll let you know more details just as soon as we have them – Happy Faces Facebook page
July sees us back in Llangollen, entertaining the crowds on the field for the International Musical Eisteddfod from the 8th to the 12th of July
And as if all that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be performing at a magic club dinner in March; and doing our very first talk on magic in October!
In addition to all the shows, we’re also working on a brand new act. With a new act, comes new props – and Bernie just had to take a look inside.
Hopefully, we’ll be showing you some sneak previews of elements from our new act over the next few months – but not too many as we want to keep it a surprise!
It’s rather fitting that, after a weekend revolving around time travel with Doctor Who, we visited the both the Victorian and Medieval eras in one day.
We were in Beaumaris for their Victorian Christmas Festival, performing Christmas themed shows and close up magic for most of the day. Keiran, the dancing statue, also joined us in the square to keep the crowds entertained. It was a little cold and wet, but that didn’t deter the visitors from flocking to the town.
Later that evening, we travelled up to Caer Rhun hall, in the Conwy valley, to entertain the diners at a medieval banquet. The hall was amazing, with roaring open fires to keep everyone warm. It was fabulous to see everyone all dressed up in Medieval costume and joining in the fun and games with such enthusiasm.
