Harry Potter Evening in Llandudno: wizard magic, potion making & quiz

Join us on Wednesday the 26th  of June, for a Harry Potter evening in Llandudno.

Llandudno is a very popular tourist destination, with plenty of shops and attractions to keep everyone occupied during their visit. But hidden away in plain sight on Clonmel Street is a wonderful shop full of magic and mystery; a place dedicated to the wondrous and mystical world brought to life by J.K Rowling.

Llandudno’s Hogwarts! The Wonderful Wizarding Boutique.

The Wizarding Boutique in Llandudno is a Harry Potter fan’s dream, the perfect place for all your magical needs.

Last month we brought some of our wizarding magic to one of their special ticketed events. It was a blast to be a part of and everyone had a great time, with plenty of positive comments following the evening. Thanks to this success we’re returning to Llandudno’s Hogwarts with even more magic and mystery.

An evening of magic and potion making

This is a brilliant and unique night out for any Potter fan. The evening begins with a serving of Butterbeer, a truly tasty beverage straight from the books. Then once everyone is all settled in, Jay kicks off the night with his magic and illusion show; you’ll feel like you have truly entered into a school of witchcraft and wizardry!

Then it’s time to put your crafty mind in gear and create your own potion, by the end of this you’ll have your own unique item to put proudly on your mantelpiece at home. Just make sure you tell all your guests that just one sip will turn them into a toad!

And the evening closes out with the dastardly, difficult (but fair all the same) Harry Potter quiz. This is the ultimate test to see if you are the Hermoinie of Potter fans, and an unlimited font of wizarding knowledge.

After all that, you will be able to peruse the shop and maybe find that last thing you need for your collection. It’s a brilliant event and perfect fun for all ages, there’s something for everyone to sink their teeth into.

And it’s important to remember that we solemnly swear that we are up to no good. Are you? Come along and join us in some Harry Potter revelry.

Gwrych Castle 200th Birthday: An epic celebration for 200 years!

Gwrych Castle 200th Anniversary open weekend 15-16th June 2019

North Wales has lots of beautiful venues and places to visit, but alas some have fallen by the wayside and been neglected. But some of these stories have happy futures, such as Gwrych Castle. Left to rot and ruin for many years, it was a fine turn of events when the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, headed by Mark Baker, stepped in to help restore this gorgeous site.

We’ve had the privilege to work at this wonderful venue a number of times in the past couple of years, with medieval and local community events, and this year we’re back there several times more, starting with a big old celebration. A double celebration to be accurate; on June 15th and 16th Gwrych Castle will be celebrating its 200th birthday and also the 1st anniversary of the Trust’s purchase of Gwrych.

It’s going to be a big party and you’re all invited to come along, the more the merrier as they say! It’s sure to be a fantastic day out for the whole family, with plenty to see and do. No party is complete without music and dance, and Gwrych have got you covered, with Mistrafunk performing live music in the old theatre, and Clerical Error morris dancers leading the way up the main driveway to their primary performance on the main terrace.

There’ll be face painting with Disney princesses, immersive historical guided tours of the site, magic shows and close-up miracles from Jay and much much more. And if you just want to put your feet up and enjoy this wonderful location you can do that too, with plenty of places to get some food and drink and set yourself up to soak in the atmosphere.

This is going to be a wonderful weekend and it would be awesome to see you there, so if you’re after something to do on the 15th and 16th of June come on down to Gwrych Castle 200th celebration and say hi!

Broughton & Bretton Carnival 2019

On Saturday the 8th of June it will be time to break out the Wizard robes once again and bring our unique magic to another North Wales event. You’ll find us at the Broughton & Bretton Carnival 2019, hosted at the Broughton and Bretton Community Centre, from 12pm until 5pm.

Broughton & Bretton Carnival 2019

We love taking part in these local community events, they are always well attended and help bring the community together with lots of fun activities for the whole family, and of course plenty of entertainment.

No carnival would be complete without an opening parade, and Broughton Carnival kicks off in just such a way. Jay has been asked to lead the parade this year. So keep an eye out for the Wizard of Conwy playing the pied-piper as he leads costumed folk, floats and bands galore, as they make their presence known and get the town hyped for the day’s event.

Throughout the day Jay will be about the carnival field entertaining one and all. He’s scheduled to perform his Wizard show on the field three times over the course of the day, so watch out as the crowds begin to gather for some wizard styled madness and fun. He will be sharing with all some of his favourite magical effects and challenging himself in unique ways for the enjoyment of all there gathered. Magic, juggling and impossible puzzles are all part of this enjoyable show.

Jay always likes to keep himself busy through an event, so between shows he’ll be engaging with attendees with some smaller tricks and effects as well. There’s nothing more astonishing than magic that happens right in your hands or inches from your face.

So if you’re attending the event, watch out for the green and blue robes across the field, and be sure to come by and say hi! We’d love to meet you there.

Details of the event can be found on the Facebook page, and on the Broughton & Bretton Carnival 2019 event page.

The Original Conwy Pirate Festival 2019: 2 days of swashbuckling fun!

Conwy Pirate Weekend 2019 flyer

Ahoy there mateys! Avast and pay heed…savvy? Right, that’s plenty of pirate talk landlubbers… okay that was the last one. What can we say? We’re excited to be a part of the awesome Original Conwy Pirate Festival 2019. You can’t beat dressing up as a pirate and drinking plenty of tea… that’s what pirates drink, right?

On the 1st and 2nd of June Conwy will once more play host to an invasion of pirates, buccaneers and swashbucklers as the Navy try to defend the quay from them; to no avail of course.

There will be much to see and do for big and small pirates alike, including event favourites such as the fancy dress competition, and the barrel and keg races. There will be loads of pirate games for all to enjoy and much, much more, all within the amazing setting that is Conwy town.

When pirates clash…

Jay will be there helping to compere the event alongside performing his pirate magic, as well as being joined by his shipmate Erwyd, so this can only mean one thing…FIGHT!

Pirates being pirates there’s bound to be some sort of disagreement, like who gets the last pie, so the inevitable will undoubtedly occur. Erwyd and Gatling will be taking to the quay with their hugely enjoyable and much requested sword duel; be sure to be there and cheer for your favourite pirate and boo for the other; it’s amazing fun for all the family so don’t miss out. You never know, there may even be some other magical/juggling surprises!

As a first for The Original Conwy Pirate Festival this year, Erwyd and Gatling will be leading the charge as part of an audacious invasion of the most fortified part of Conwy Town: a fine prize for any pirate, and one that is considered an un-winnable reward. But you can be sure this dastardly crew don’t know the meaning of the word (seriously, most of them can’t read). That’s right, if you haven’t guessed by now, the Conwy pirates will be leading an attack on Conwy Castle itself.

As you can tell we can’t wait for this event, and we hope that you’re excited too. Arrr you going to be there? If so put on your tricorn hat, strap your cutlass to your side and perfect your best sneer and we’ll see you at the most diabolical event in North Wales. The Original Conwy Pirate Festival 2019.
