Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2014

We were back at the Llangollen International Musical Esteddfod last week, and we had just as much fun as last year!

This year, we did walk around magic and performed on the outdoor stages again.

We took part in the Tuesday night Carnival of Nations show on the stage in the main pavilion. It was amazing to work with artists such as Cirque du Soleil performer Bruce Bilodeau and the Gandini Jugglers.

We also ended up on television – the S4C film crew asked Jay to perform some magic for them. The piece was shown on their Saturday show.

If you missed the programme, or if S4C isn’t available in your area, the programme will be available on Clic for the next month. Skip ahead to around 66 minutes in, and there we are!

Jay entertained lots of different groups throughout the Eisteddfod, both with close up magic right in front of them, and with larger tricks during the stage shows.

There were some wonderful reactions to the magic, it’s always so nice to see people enjoying themselves.

Conwy Pirate Weekend 2014

One of the great things about being entertainers is all the fabulous events we get to attend. It’s always a great excuse to dress up in costume and really get into character.

This last weekend, we were at the Conwy Pirate Weekend, the third year of this annual event. Unfortunately it was very wet and overcast on Saturday, which meant that we were all very soggy pirates, but it was more than made up for by the brilliant sunshine on Sunday.

There were loads of events and activities over the weekend: barrel rolling and barrel carrying competitions, a real live mermaid, an 18th century pirate camp, a pirate ship attacking the quay which had to be fended off by cannon fire, and all kinds of stalls and stores.

The crowds were kept entertained by Harley the Clown, Roslyn Walker, Tom Mason & the Blue Buccaneers, as well as Clerical Error Morris Dancers, mermaid Toni Mishell and others. We  told the magical tale of “Captain Gatling’s Journey of Wonder”, and Jay was also the voice of the event, giving announcements all day, and providing commentary on the events, and introducing the acts.

As always, Bernie the Bunnie came along with us, and this time, he decided that he wanted to dress up too. He met lots of new people, but some of the pirates were a bit fierce… although he did eventually get his revenge!

Huge thanks to everyone at HTC Entertainments and Events for all their hard work in making the event such a success.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Conwy Pirates website to get all the news about next year’s event, and be sure to like their Facebook page.

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza 2014 Photographs

We always enjoy the Extravaganza, and this year was brilliant. We performed two shows a day on the Promenade Stage, took part in the daily parade, and did close up magic on the streets.

There’s always somebody on hand with a camera to capture everything that happens at the event, and we thought we’d show you some of the amazing photographs from this year.

Firstly, there’s these images from the official event photographer, Robert Mann. You can view the full set on Flickr, as well as the hundreds of other photographs that he took over the weekend:

Simon Bailey took these wonderful shots:

And Simon’s Photos captured Jay entertaining the bands at the start of the parade:

And what set of photographs would be complete without at least one selfie? Here’s Simon, Jay and Dean enjoying themselves during the parade!
