Review of Seaside Special in the Budget

IBM-Budget-Elemental

Jay and I are both members of the British Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and we had a lovely surprise when we opened our copy of this month’s Budget magazine.

As you can see, Maggie Tucker saw Seaside Special recently, and came backstage to chat with us after the show.

It’s always nice to know that people have enjoyed watching us,  and the shows that we take part in.

This was the best £6.00 I’ve spent in a long, long time.

Jenna Grace, a vocalist, sang (amongst others) a song from Les Misérables as expertly as that from the actual stage and film productions. She was excellent. Mel Blake is a top TV comedian and it showed… very funny. The Linzi Grace Dancers performed four times during the show and were very energetic and fast paced. Now to the magic…

Jay Gatling performed a lovely solo spot in the first half with a series of entertaining rope effects. Then, in the second half, Jay & Amelia, as Elemental, wowed the audience with their illusions and manipulations. It was good to see so many original touches that no doubt helped to secure them two British Ring prizes, in 2011, including the Dittia Shield for manipulation. Jay’s manipulative skills, on this night, were outstanding and he and Amelia worked so well together in the second half.

I was pleased to be able to chat with them backstage after the show, and congratulate them on two terrific performances. The two hours just flew by.

I highly recommend magicians and their families to see this show, especially when you realise that ALL the proceeds go to a charity that helps sick and disabled children in North Wales.”

Time To Remember

Yesterday, we went to see Time To Remember, the sister show to Seaside Special. We had a nice time, and it was lovely to catch up with all the cast members.

The show is on every Thursday until the 3rd of October at the Town Hall in Llandudno. Tickets are £6 each, and all proceeds go to Happy Faces Children’s Charity.

Conwy County Wrestling

We have been working with Jay Gatling for just under a year and he has been one of the finest master of ceremonies i have ever seen.

He has given our wrestling shows an injection of life, fun and professionalism. His crowd interaction is a wonder to behold, a man who talks to a crowd not at them. He has taken a ‘minor’ role, grown it and made it all his own, he is a valued asset to our wrestling shows and wish not to see one without him.

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza: Sunshine and Showers (part one)

We’ve just finished two weekends of street magic, and they couldn’t have been more different.

Firstly, we took part in the annual Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza. It’s a three day event that fills the streets with rides and attractions, and brings the town centre to a standstill.

Early in the morning, the streets were almost deserted, but things soon got busier as all the visitors arrived.

We spent most of the time walking around the Extravaganza, performing close up magic for people in the street, and posing for them to take photographs.

Each day, we did one show on the promenade stage – our Mystic Emporium show. It was the first outing for the Mystic Emporium on a stage, with a performance specially designed for outdoor work.

Then we joined in the daily parade around the town, with Kevin the bird and Trix the dog.

It was a little chilly first thing on Saturday morning, and it rained for a short while, but the rest of the weekend was lovely and hot with some glorious sunshine.

We had a great time, but wearing heavy Victorian costumes in bright sun got rather warm!

A huge thank you to the Official Photographer of the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, Robert Mann, for letting us use his wonderful images. You can see the whole set of photographs by clicking here.

The weekend after the Extravaganza we were at another outdoor event, but the weather was a complete contrast. Find out all about it in Part Two, coming soon!
